Overview

Disciplines of Sciences, Applied Sciences and Engineering. Let’s look specifically at the subjects known as the social sciences:

Anthropology 

Known as the ‘science of humanity’, anthropology covers a broad range of topics. The study of sociocultural anthropology also covers economic and political organization, law and conflict resolution, patterns of consumption and exchange, material culture, and many similar topics.

Economics 

Economic sociology deals with the analytical, political and moral questions arising at the intersection between economy and society from a broad perspective with studies beyond sociology to political science, philosophy, industrial relations and history.

Industrial Relations

Sociology of work and industrial relations include the need to rethink employment relations. Meeting these challenges also provides opportunities for sociologists of work to contribute to public policy and the legal aspects relating to the topic. The term industrial relations refers to the relationship between employees and management.
Industrial relations examines the complex attitudes and approaches of both management and its workers and ways to resolve conflict.

Political Science

Political scientists study human society and political systems—from social behavior to the operation of political systems. Their findings often provides insights into ways individuals, groups, and governments make decisions, exercise power, and organize. Through study and analyses, the political scientists suggest solutions to social, business, personal, and governmental problems. Many work as public policy mediator for government or private organizations.

Training in the 1st cycle is oriented towards the needs of the labor market and adapted to the challenges of our society. 

Graduate students evolve in an environment with a wide range of research topics.
Student life is very dynamic, especially on work on numerous projects and opportunities to participate in extensive work. Students also organize their own recreational activities.
Science and Engineering promotes the advancement of knowledge in order to play a significant role in the development of tomorrow’s world.

The various topics under study will enhance your knowledge in the field in addition to developing your understanding of the world and your critical thinking. It consists of carrying out a professional study as a team in response to the request of a sponsoring organization. The study results in the preparation of a research report which is the subject of a short public presentation and which can be published online by the Department.

This certificate gives you tools and methods that will allow you to structure your reflection and your analysis of society and of the various facts that characterize it.  A training that allows you to understand the evolution of our society and the challenges it faces.


Doctoral studies in sociology will allow you to develop your expertise in one of the major fields of sociology. By following this program, you will come into contact with professors trained in sociology, ethnology, philosophy, political science, demography and communication who all have the advancement of sociology at heart.


The certificate in criminology allows you to acquire the knowledge that will help you better understand the criminal phenomenon and the functioning of the justice system, as well as develop your critical sense with regard to the penal and judicial world. The certificate in criminology offers you an overview of the main themes of the discipline, in addition to offering you the choice to deepen certain specific themes.


In this program, you will learn how to promote social change, problem solving in the context of human relationships and improving general well-being.


The student is able to analyze criminological data using methodological and analytical tools at the cutting edge of knowledge. He receives training enabling him to recognize problems and ask research questions in the light of criminological knowledge. The aim of the master’s also is to train graduates who have the skills necessary to analyze specific criminological problems, such as drug addiction, the criminalization of Aboriginals or the recidivism of violent spouses. Although not required for admission, this step is necessary for the continuation of your studies.
