CERTIFICATE IN LANGUAGE AND INTERPRETING
The aim of the program is to offer university training to future French / language interpreters. Quebec Sign Language is the predominant sign language of deaf communities used in francophone Canada, primarily in Quebec. Quebec signs make the spoken message visually accessible to deaf and hard of hearing people and, as the case may be, make the signed message of deaf people verbally accessible to people hearing.
This program must equip students to perform the function of interpreter, taking into account the special needs of deaf and hard of hearing people and complying with the code of ethics of the profession. At the end of the program, the interpreters will be able to work among other things in schools, in social services, in the field of recreation and in government services, both provincial and federal.
